Team / Group Description

The OTC Settlements team within Derivative Operations supports settlement of bilateral derivative cash payments and receipts linked to trade lifecycle events for derivative transactions executed on behalf of clients and funds.

The team confirms all cash settlements with executing counterparties and ensures cash movement is instructed in line with internal policies. It also collaborates with upstream and downstream operations teams to resolve trade discrepancies and assist in cash reconciliation activities.

Role Description

The Trade Support and Settlement Analyst is responsible for maintaining strict trade controls and liaising with internal and external stakeholders, escalating issues to management where required.

The settlement function operates independently from the Front Office and plays a key role in ensuring operational control, accuracy, and high-quality service delivery.

Applications & Tools Used
  • Calypso

  • Transaction control and reconciliation systems

  • Internal investment management platforms

  • Industry portals and custodian/broker websites

  • Trade affirmation and settlement instruction systems

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily operational settlement activities for equity, fixed income, and multi-asset derivative products

  • Ensure timely affirmation and settlement of OTC derivative trades

  • Communicate settlement instructions with counterparties using industry messaging systems

  • Perform reconciliation, break resolution, and fail management for OTC derivative cash settlements

  • Participate in projects to improve workflows and document processes

  • Support regulatory and process changes within derivative operations

  • Provide high-quality client and stakeholder service

Job Qualifications (Ideal Candidate)
  • Strong understanding of financial products including equities, fixed income, and derivatives

  • Ability to work in a high-volume, time-sensitive, and risk-sensitive environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify process improvements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including interaction with senior stakeholders

  • Ability to work in multi-location/global teams

Qualifications / Experience / Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, or at least 2 years of relevant specialized experience

Skills
  • Basic understanding of equities, bonds, and options

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and OneNote

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to coordinate with global teams across regions

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration mindset

  • Ability to present in meetings (or willingness to develop presentation skills)
