Role Overview: Due Diligence Consultant

As a Due Diligence Consultant, you will spearhead the client onboarding lifecycle, serving as a critical line of defense in mitigating institutional risk. You will be responsible for conducting rigorous research, interpreting complex global policies, and providing actionable insights to ensure all business activities align with regulatory and internal governance standards.

This role requires a blend of investigative curiosity, independent judgment, and collaborative communication to resolve challenges in a fast-paced financial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Mitigation & Onboarding: Own the end-to-end client onboarding process, performing due diligence to identify, assess, and neutralize potential risks.

  • Policy Consultation: Act as a subject matter expert by interpreting internal guidelines, governance programs, and regulatory policies for internal stakeholders.

  • Research & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive background investigations on individuals, entities, and high-risk transactions to identify sanctions, credit, financial crime, and reputational risks.

  • Reporting & Governance: Aggregate due diligence data, evaluate results, and produce high-quality reporting; escalate critical risks to senior leadership when necessary.

  • Strategic Problem Solving: Analyze onboarding bottlenecks and research alternative solutions to streamline processes while maintaining strict compliance.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with peers, line-of-business managers, and external parties to resolve complex issues and achieve departmental goals.

Detailed Job Expectations
  • Complex Reviews: Evaluate individuals, entities, and related parties (e.g., Board of Directors, Executives) that present a moderate degree of complexity and risk.

  • Regulatory Screening: Screen customers and transactions against global regulatory reporting lists, PEP (Politically Exposed Person) databases, and regional sanctions watchlists.

  • High-Risk Management: Partner with high-risk client types—such as casinos, MSBs, and payment processors—to evaluate their internal controls and business activities.

  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure 100% adherence to the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Customer Identification Programs (CIP).

  • Independent Execution: Manage a high-volume workload with minimal supervision, consistently meeting performance metrics and project deadlines.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in Due Diligence, Risk Management, Client Service, Operations Support, or Business Process Management.

  • A background that demonstrates analytical rigor, whether through corporate experience, specialized training, or military service.

Desired Skills & Attributes:

  • Regulatory Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge of AML, BSA, and USA PATRIOT Act requirements.

  • Analytical Prowess: Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to determine a clear course of action for financial transactions.

  • Communication: Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to build relationships and explain complex compliance findings to non-expert audiences.

  • Technical Proficiency: Professional experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).

  • Proactive Mindset: A self-starter capable of navigating a structured environment with high levels of autonomy.
