Consultant, Legal Counsel - Full Time
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary legal advisor for Nationwide India Office, ensuring alignment with corporate legal strategy and compliance with Indian laws. Manage and oversee external legal counsel in India.
Advise HR and leadership on Indian employment law, employee relations, and workplace compliance matters.
Provide legal advice on Indian employment, corporate, and commercial law.
Draft, review, and negotiate vendor and employment contracts.
Ensure adherence to Indian data privacy laws, anti-bribery regulations, and other statutory requirements.
Support internal investigations and risk assessments.
Advise on data privacy, anti-bribery, and anti-corruption compliance.
Manage external counsel, support internal investigations, and contribute to cross- border legal initiatives. Manage relationships with Indian law firms, ensuring
cost-effective and high-quality legal support. Represent the company in legal proceedings, if necessary.
Draft, review, and negotiate vendor, employment, and commercial contracts.
Support corporate social responsibility, political engagement, and community initiatives in India.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) required; Master’s degree (LLM) or equivalent preferred and Company Secretary (CS).
License/Certification/Designation: Must be licensed to practice law in India.
Experience: Minimum 10–15 years of legal experience, including in-house counsel roles with multinational corporations. Performed the role of CS or ACS for multinational corporations.
Soft Skills & Attributes:
Deep understanding of Indian labor law, privacy regulations, and corporate governance.
Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
Ability to manage external counsel and legal budgets.
Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
Strategic thinking and ability to operate independently in a matrixed environmen
