Software Engineer
Role Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deploy AI systems
using LLMs, RAG frameworks, and advanced agentic techniques. In this role, you
will focus on building scalable pipelines, integrating external data sources, and
collaborating with teams to deliver high-impact AI-driven products. This is an Individual
Contributor role, where you will Design, Code, Test, Deploy and Maintain Production
systems.

leading technologies and services such as Scan & Go, Club Pickup, and home delivery

operations support services.
You will work in a team of talented engineers to build robust, distributed and scalable
applications related to Search, Ads and Personalization.
What you'll do:
The team is improving the Sam's Club eCommerce platform by enhancing search,
browse, typeahead, and personalization features to provide a seamless member
experience. Key initiatives involve transforming the catalog format, improving ingestion
workflows, signal processing, and leveraging advanced machine learning models to
detect anomalies and address quality issues. A shared signal framework aims to enable
collaboration across teams, such as Search, Ads, and Personalization.
A Senior Software Engineer is needed to build backend services using Java, Spring,
and/or Python. Responsibilities include collaborating with product, engineering, and
business teams to address quality and stability, enhancing issue detection in lower
environments, automating manual tasks through scripting, and implementing scalable
solutions for Search, Ads, and Personalization.
The role involves developing and integrating machine learning models, focusing on the
following:
AI Development: Implementing Generative AI solutions using RAG for
summarization, knowledge retrieval, and building LLM-based agents with vector
search for real-time responses.
System Design/Scalability: Designing scalable systems with machine learning
pipelines, validating AI-driven features through MVPs, and ensuring detailed
solutions.
Collaboration: Supporting architecture decisions, conducting code reviews, and
aligning solutions with functional and non-functional requirements.
Leadership: Driving AI initiatives, mentoring junior engineers, and setting best
practices for AI-driven systems.
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's/Master’s Degree and 6+ years of experience in design and
development of consumer facing software.
Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design
patterns.
Strong Java, Spring and Python development experience.
Hands-on experience with using Gen AI and building AI agents.
Familiarity with distributed systems, scalable architectures, and cloud platforms
(GCP, Azure).
Strong understanding of software design patterns, disaster recovery strategies,
and non-functional requirements.
Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.
Strong oral and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering,
information systems, cybersecurity, or related area
6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area at a technology,
retail, or data-driven company.
