EOS RPO
Senior/Staff Application Engineer - Motor Control
About this role:
Motor control is one of our core areas of expertise, making this an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team and contribute to transforming the world of motion control for a better tomorrow. This dual-competency role requires expertise in motor control firmware and hardware development, along with strong customer support experience.
Specific duties:
- Deliver comprehensive technical support to Renesas customers for motor control solutions
- Provide effective technical assistance to Renesas marketing and sales teams during customer design engagements
- Develop, test, and validate motor control firmware on evaluation kits and real hardware platforms
- Serve as the subject matter expert on MCUs, motor control peripherals (ADCs, PWMs, DACs, timers, etc.), and motor control algorithms
- Design and validate motor drive reference boards for applications such as industrial drives and home appliances (e.g., washing machines, air conditioners, refrigerators). This includes component selection and sizing (MOSFETs, IGBTs, analog front ends, DC-DC converters), schematic capture, and PCB layout of high-performance inverter boards, with a focus on optimal thermal performance and low EMI.
- Act as a technical consultant to customers by reviewing and providing guidance on their schematics and PCB layouts
- Modify and re-design existing boards to meet specific end-customer application requirements
- Lead and facilitate training sessions and technical evaluations of Renesas motor control solutions for customers and internal sales teams
- Collaborate closely with core engineering team to develop, optimize, and enhance motor control solutions
- Manage and coordinate technical projects with partners and design houses
