Senior Database Engineer
In this role, you will:
Lead or participate in database management activities including designing highly complex logical and physical databases
Lead highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts
Perform the planning, research, design, implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databases
Design and implement security solutions including Center for Internet Security benchmarks and auditing
Design and certify next generation database technologies
Consult with and advise management and multiple clients on high impact data or database management issues, influencing strategic direction
Provide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technology
Develop management policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in Database Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education
Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and above) in large‑scale enterprise environments
Deep understanding of SQL Server architecture (Engine internals, storage, memory, TempDb, transaction logs)
Expertise in Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and other High Availability / Disaster Recovery (HA/DR)
Proven skills in performance tuning (query optimization, indexing strategies, wait stats, execution plans)
Ability to troubleshoot L2 level production incidents, provide RCA as per SLAs
Leads technical discussions during major incidents, ensuring clear and concise communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Strong ownership mindset for production systems
Ability to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions
Automation experience using Python/PowerShell
AI knowledge required
Job Expectations:
The role involves providing L2 production support for large‑scale, enterprise SQL Server environments, with a strong focus on high availability, performance, and platform stability for mission‑critical systems.
The role requires Expertise in SQL Server architecture, HA/DR technologies, and performance tuning.
Responsibilities include 12×7 production support, incident troubleshooting with RCA delivery within SLAs, proactive capacity and performance management, and execution of patching, technology refresh, and build activities.
The engineer also ensures standardized maintenance, security, and compliance across the SQL estate.
