Finance Director
Job Summary:
This role supports various financial analysis and forecasting activities as far as they relate to operations outside the US, including preparation of budgets/forecasts, review and analysis of Actuals, regular and ad-hoc analysis and advice. The role partners the business in the country and liaises with above-country colleagues in the CFO functions outside the US, as well as global head-office colleagues in the CFO functions in the US. The analysis supports critical business decisions. Direct line management of this role sits within Finance, not Accounting; and this role does not record Actuals in the Accounting system.
Key responsibilities:
Act as Finance Partner to the country / site and the GCC:
- Participate in and contribute towards site/country and GCC leadership;
- Partner the site/country leadership and employees for matters related to Finance and CFO functions, liaise with relevant other CFO teams as required;
- Line manage Office Managers and finance employees at local site / country and elsewhere as required.
- Partner and support the GCC as required, and line-manage local finance employees, who support deliverables by Finance teams outside India, for example in the US, Europe and Japan.
Provide local presence for CFO functions, and act as a steward for corporate governance and compliance with CFO related policies:
- Provide Finance support to legal entity / country specific Finance topics;
- Key Liaison between Accounting and the subsidiary; review legal entity financial data and financial statements, and work with Accounting to ensure accuracy;
- Key Liaison between Corporate Treasury and the subsidiary, ensuring all local operations are adequately funded to meet operating needs. Supplies Treasury with cash forecasts as needed.
- Key Liaison between Corporate Tax and the subsidiary, reviewing annual tax filings for the legal entity and ensuring accurate inputs for tax calculations and forecasts.
- Provide financial expertise on the country to all functions;
- Approve purchase requisitions for the country.
Finance Partner local business functions:
- Enter forecast into system and present forecasts to relevant management;
- Conduct Actuals vs Forecast analysis;
- Implement tools and manage the resource planning activities, including FTE utilization across multiple diverse programs and cost centres;
- Together with the business own the P&L for the country, take ownership of profitability in the country;
- Track, review, and report costs; have Accounting make corrections if required;
- Collate accruals and communicate to Accounting to be created at quarter-ends;
- Work closely with internal Finance colleagues for corporate needs and deliverables;
- Advise the business and the Accounting department on appropriate coding of transactions, so they show up correctly in the prepared analysis later on;
- Liaise with stakeholders to track invoices against purchase orders;
Support ex-US above-country Finance effort:
- Perform tasks related to consolidating budget/forecast for all countries outside the US and financials related to ‘above-country’ management outside the US, and analysis and presentation thereof, as required.
Education & Experience
Required:
· Relevant under-graduate degree, and relevant post-graduate (such as MBA) and/or professional finance-related qualifications
· Key skills: Ability to deal with ambiguity, proactive and persistent, ability to look at issues from different perspectives
· 10+ years of relevant post-qualification finance-related work experience, mainly spent in the biotech/pharma industry and/or Shared Service Centre environment
