As a Software Engineer, you will focus on mentoring and leading others to deliver high quality, cost-effective technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Familiar with insurance business processes (Auto, Property, P&C lines).

• Eager to grow skills in PolicyCenter, message brokers, batch processing, and databases.

• Flexible, collaborative, and effective across diverse teams and domains.

• Strong understanding of ITSM principles and service delivery.

• Excellent communicator capable of simplifying complex technical topics.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 6+ years of hands‑on development and support experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter.

• Experience with Guidewire Cloud, cloud deployment models, and architecture.

• 4+ years of experience in the P&C insurance domain.

• Strong understanding of API‑driven architectures and integration patterns.

• Hands‑on experience with source control and deployment tools such as GitHub and UrbanCode Deploy.

• Strong understanding of DevOps, SRE, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.

Job Description Key Responsibilities:

  1. Mentors and trains other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards.

  2. Provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.

  3. Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.

  4. Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and optimal practices.

  5. Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  6. Ensures continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  7. Manages individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.

  8. Additional responsibilities may include collaboration across teams and adherence to company standards.

  9. Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  10. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications & Experience: 

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred. 

Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Three years of experience in project management is preferred.

Hands-on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. Proficiency in one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Knowledge of the insurance/financial services industry is a plus.
